tips
1) Don't use a metal tape measure; although it
may be flexible, it will not conform to the body easily
and won't provide accurate results.
2) Lay the measuring tape flat against the skin.
Don't pull the tape too tight or let it droop. All measurements
should be slightly snug.
3) Keep a pen or pencil and paper nearby so you
can write the measurements down as you go. Indicate where
each measurement began and ended.
4) Use inches as measurement not centimeters.
5) If you're rounding off your results (which is
advisable), round them up to the nearest quarter-inch
or half-centimeter.
6) If you're taking measurements for someone else's
use, include the height and weight of the person being
measured. Again, honesty is the best policy here!
7)Wear shoes for leg measurements. The hemline
should be at the top or middle of the shoe's heel, depending
on what the person likes.
8) If you're measuring for a dress or skirt, start
at the side from the waist, over the hip and then stop
at the desired length.
9) Don't add your measurement when sending it
thru online or the mail. Write down the actual measurement
and let the designer or the seamstress do the fitting
adjustment.
